Plastic harvesting boxes: The PSAplast Solution

The grape harvest season is a crucial period for winemakers, where every detail counts to ensure the quality of the grapes and, consequently, the wine. PSAplast, specializing in the manufacture of plastic boxes, offers a range of products designed to meet the needs of viticulture professionals across Europe (France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, …). In this article, we explore the advantages of PSAplast plastic boxes and how they can optimize your grape harvest.

Grape harvesting box

Stackable boxes. Maximum grape protection during harvesting

One of the main challenges during the grape harvest is transporting the grapes without crushing them. To avoid transporting grapes in large containers or pallet boxes (where the grapes are relatively crushed), PSAplast’s plastic boxes are designed to be stackable, which means you can stack several boxes on top of each other without damaging the grapes inside. This feature is essential to prevent premature fermentation, a problem that can alter the quality of the wine.

Transport of harvesting boxes

Ease of handling and space saving with grape harvesting boxes

When the boxes are empty, they nest in each other, reducing significantly the storage space. This feature not only facilitates the transport and storage of the boxes when not in use but also reduces logistical costs and maximizes the efficiency of your workspace.

Storage of nested harvesting boxes

Intuitive marking for simplified stacking and nesting of harvesting boxes

PSAplast offers a hot foil stamping option on one side of the box, which makes it easier to find the position for stacking and nesting.

Stacking position: When the boxes are stacked, the logo is alternately visible. This ensures that the boxes are correctly stacked, thus avoiding any risk of grape crushing.
Nesting position: In the nesting position, all logos are visible on one side. If you look from the other side, there are no logos, allowing to easily determine how the boxes should be arranged.

Harvesting boxes with engraving

Hot stamping is done in only one colour. Usually our customers decide to engrave the company’s name or a logo. This engraved option does not fade over time. We can also perform silk screen printing (up to 4 colors).

A distinctive element for simplified nesting

If the customer does not want engraving, there are distinctive visual and tactile signs to help with the nesting and stacking. In fact, anyone holding the box can feel with their thumb an element protruding, that indicates the orientation of the box (stackable or nestable direction).

A range of models to meet all needs during grape harvesting

PSAplast offers various models of plastic boxes to the different demands of grape harvest.
Based on the size of the harvest, ease of handling, and the need to avoid grape crushing during harvesting, our customers select their ideal size box.

The main models available are:
– 25-litre box: Perfect for smaller harvests or particularly delicate grapes.
– 35-litre box: A versatile choice for most operations.
– 50-litre box: Ideal for larger harvests, offering a good balance between capacity and handling.
– 70-litre box: This model is designed for very large quantities of grapes, but with greater crushing of the grapes due to their own weight.

All these boxes have 600×400 mm, with varying heights depending on their capacity: 150 mm for the 25-litre container, 200 mm for the 35-litre container, 300 mm for the 50-litre container, and 400 mm for the 70-litre container.

Wall options: solid or perforated

To meet the specific ventilation needs of grapes, PSAplast can also provide boxes with perforated walls. These boxes allow better air circulation around the grapes, thus reducing the risk of rotting. However, it is important to note that perforated boxes have a higher risk of grape damage due to exposure, and the risk of grapes getting trapped in the perforated parts.
